I thought I read some where that the 20x42 was being discontinued and that is why the price is still down on them, also see that there are some on the sample list at very reasonable Price (got 3 at this price). My question is are they going away and if so what about warranty services?
Anyone with first hand knoweldge please confirm or doaway with this nasty rumor.Because with my old eyes I fell in love with this scope and would probably buy more in future (read when funds become availiable).
 Thanks in advance.

Even those of us with crystal balls have no real knowledge of the future - things dont usually happen the way you worry about them happening. The significantly lower price on them, where they were all previously the same price is an indicator that SWFA desires to reduce the number of them in stock.  I reciently saw a photo of the stockroom and there was a stack of super snipers about 6 ft high so I bet Chris would like to sell some of them and I encourage you to acquire however many you want as expediently as possible. Warranty service remains unchanged it is awesome and SWFA has always gone way out of its way to make sure customers who bought Super Snipers were completely satisfied.
My educated guess is that the  20x is not significantly more useful than the 16x and that it would at some point go away.  For years I have recommended a 6x model however the 3-9x42 model takes care of that.  Best guess is that if other models were added to the line we would see something in the 4-16x40 range before we saw anything else.  So there is no straight up intel that it is going away but it would be a logical choice.

I for one hope the 20X SS does not go away.  I just returned from the F Nationals where I used a SS 20X shooting F tr and finished 11th overall in F tr class and won the Saturday 1000 yd F tr agg.  I could not make weight using my NF so I put the SS on the rifle and took that to the Nationals.  I usually use the 20X for indoor 50' .22 league matches during the winter.
The 20X SS did just fine this past week.

urimaginaryfrnd, I hope you went to the sample list when you bought it $50 less. That is where I got mine from and should have all of them in 10 days or so.
Two will be mounted right away and the other as soon as the new rifle comes in, but sighting them in may take awhile because of upcoming back surgery. The wife said she is locking me in the house for a couple of months(6) because this will be #6 and it will take alot longer to heal.
I keep telling her sitting at the bench down at the range won't bother me but she doesn't believe me, probably because I come home hurting like hell after a few hours.
My next one may be the 3-9 but I really like these fixed powers and may try a 16 on a 243 or the 22-250 but right now I have a full plate to play with and it looks like plenty of time to do it.

One last thought, I wish either Mr. Farris's would comment on this and maybe give a hint if something is in the think tank.
