I am in a pandry as to what scope I should put on my Rem 700 PSS .308.....I like that the SS is 1/4 MOA adjustments vs the Leupy's 1 MOA elevation and 1/2 MOA windage.  The clicks on the Mark 4 feel more definate as the SS feel very spongy.  Any advice?

Which one looks better, glass wise, to you?
Go with the glass, JMO.

Have you had your SS scope for very long?  I noticed that out of the box the clicks on the SS feel quite mushy.  There is some grease under the turret that needs to be spread evenly.  In order to do that just rotate the turret through the whole adjustment range a couple of times.  On my SS, doing that had a veyr positive effect on click quality.

I tried that....going one direction is solid with an audible click, but going back the other direction is seems mushy.

That is a bit odd.  My SS has the same or very similar click quality in both directions.  I do have to say that the new variable SS and 10x42HD SS both have better knobs than the original.

My SS 10X42 also had positive clicks one way (up) and mushy the other way (down).  The adjustments are quite reliable, though.  I do love the clicks on my Mark 4 6.5-20 M1.

The new SS scopes are a lot more  expensive and the original SS is going to remain in production for the foreseable future.  There is simply nothing anywhere near its $300 price that is as good.
