Question for some of you guys who own or have looked at the SS10HD and the SSV 3-9 in low light. I have the 3-9 and it is usable pretty late and even in bright moonlight, could get you in trouble as a matter of fact. My question is with the better glass of the 10HD does it gather as much usable light as the SSV even though the exit pupil is smaller compared to the SSV set at 6X. I understand math does not support this, but what do you see. Thanks.

It is not, in my experience, brighter than the 3-9 at any power.

Thanks for the reply, short and to the point. I guess I have no need for the SS10HD. I'm looking for something for late evening hogs, not dark, just low light open pastures. Rifle is a Remington 223 VTR, can't imagine a shot much over 200yds under these conditions. Any opinions on meopta 7X56 or any other 7mm+ exit pupil fixed 6X+ scopes under $800. Any ideas welcome, I know y'all will have some thanks.

I have one, I like it pretty good, I was thinking maybe something with a little more magnification. My eyes are not quite as good as they once were and I think a bigger picture may help some, but I don't want it at the expense of losing the brightness of 6-7 mm exit pupil. Thought I read here somewhere that better glass would make up for some of the loss in what you can actually see, but I may be totally off base. I sometimes mix up where I read things.
