Hello to all,  I have been waiting for the Springfield  Armory  line for  quite some time now,  When I contacted sales they could offer no reliable dates which leaves me wondering....
1. Are the scopes problematic?   Springfield Armory has been around a long time and would the whole line be buggy??

2. Are they filling Government orders? If all they claim is true there may be a long waiting list.

Any rumors out there I cant wait to test one out!

Thanx and C'ya

Well remember Tasco filled a government order and at one time they were thought to be pretty inferior.
And S/A has filled Government contracts in the past.
Thanx 4 input.

Lots of bad reports about SA scopes, friend.

Too many for me to take a chance on one. You can check Sniper's Hide and Sniper's Paradise if you like. Do a search and I think you'll be surprised. I was.

Those bad reports are on the previous series of Springfield Armory scopes.  These complaints are the reasons SA revamped their scopes line.  The new series has yet to make it to market.

I contacted SA directly, this is their quoted response.
"Unfortunately, no word yet. Still an indefinite delivery date.

I just went to the SA website and to my horror the optics link is gone,  Even a good rumor would be better than the silence.

I stand corrected.
I shouldnt have even commented on a scope that I know nothing about.

Thanks, Chris.

MY nephew had a SA that came with his M1A in the little package deal they offer.  Well after 10 rounds sighting it in, his reticle had twisted and broke on the top post.  He sent it back and about 6 weeks later was given a new one or so they said.  This new one when lifted at an angle you could see what looked like(but I am sure wasnt) sand in the botttom of the scope...the internal guts of the scope.  well we shot and shot and shot and tune and tuned and tuned that scope .  We finally concluded it was a POS and we could shoot the M1A better with open sights when we knew the range.  I am sure a Tasco for 100 buck from Wal-Mart would be better.  HE pawned it for 180 bucks and even felt guilty for ripping someone off in the future.  SA made some good rifles and handguns in their day but I am soured to them even "if" the new line comes out.

Thank God I found you guys ! I've been trying to decide and thought I had about purchasing a S/A scope. Now however, I'm really skeptical about it. Maybe it was meant to be that I couldn't get me grubby paws on one. I too had heard that S/A was filling military orders but wondered if that was true. I served three years in the US Army as an Airborne Pathfinder (Co. C 509 - Ft Rucker Al) and used some really high speed equipment. I can't remember S/A supplying any of that equipment. What Gives!! Presently we're shooting  Bushnell 4200 Elite 4-14 X 40 on  Rem 700 VS's, .308 with a little aftermarket work. It's a jam up combination. Any information in reply will be appreciated.

It is rumored that Springfield will no longer be in the scope business.  They were not filling any military orders as none of their scopes have ever received a contract with the military.  The delay was supposedly caused by negotiation failures with their vendor which eventually contributed to them not coming to market with a scope.  Again this is only speculation at this time as Springfield Armory has yet to make an official announcement.

I hope "our" goverment didn't buy any of these, they are a waste of money in my opinion.  see my other posts about problems I had with them.

Save you cash and buy a REAL scope.

Well it appears the point is moot now as S/A hasn't put their optics link back up they are obviously ecperiencing some type of difficulty which means even if they did start marketing them I would not touch one for a few years at least.

Thanx 4 all the input Gentlemen,

For all of those still out there in the "sh*t",  military or civillian, "Keep your head down, move slowly when possible quickly when necessary and keep your feet and ammo dry".

Hello, I own three of Springfield's scopes, two I have problems with, one I've never had trouble with.  The one I don't have trouble with is the Fixed 6X, works like a charm.  The .223 scope with one inch tube fogs up, the rear piece is a little lose, but dos work, I wouldn't and don't trust this scope with actual hunting though.  I also have the 2nd Gen. on my Sr25, although this one still works, I lost the ability to adjust power, lucky for me it's stuck on 14X, windage and elevation work just fine, crisp site through scope.  Although I love that fixed 6X, my Sr25 is to expensive for me to put another Springfield scope on it.  I will go with the choice I wanted in the first place, Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M3.

I have used a 3rd generation 4X14 56 mm for about 4 years and 3000 rds. of 308 on various remingtons. While the front occular has an AO it "goes past" its stop point. The two best features are in internal bubble level and the "ballistic compensator" grid disappears on lower powers giving fast shot capability without busyness in the sight picture. The scope is made by Hakko. (printed on the bottom). Biggest downside, -it's really big. The biggest problem is Springfields not the scopes attitude toward scopes. They jumped into the high end without the service capability. This is my biggest complaint. So you put out a few bad scopes- every maker has done that. Were they able to rectify the situation, repair the scopes in a timely manner, send the service information and make changes in new manufacture-no. Is this tactical scope better or worse than others in it's price catagory-about the same. Is it as good as a nightforce or other product considered by professionals-no way.

Good hearing from you Cory-it's been awhile.

Leupold Mark 4 Long Range Tactical  4.5-14 by 50  M1  so you have 1/4 MOA click adjustment. The M3 scopes are 1MOA per click elevation and 1/2 MOA per click windage.
