I recently got a used Springfield "Government Model" six power with a 1-700 yard range finder built in for 308 ammo.....I have heard that there were lots of problems with SA scopes.....who made the scopes for SA..??.....The principle of this scope is intriguing, I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.....Is there anyone making something like this now...??Thnaks in advance for any info...

They were made in Japan by Hakko for Springfield Armory.  The manufacturer can not solely take the blame for the scopes reputation.  They built them to S.A. specifications and budget.  Hakko is capable of making scopes that rival the best scopes out there and in fact they do.  If you go to Hakko and ask for a scope with X amount of features and tell them you only want to spend X amount of money per scope then you will get exactly that.

The only scope I can think of with a similar bullet drop feature for .308 would be a Trijicon A.C.O.G.

I think some of the Loopy Mk4 LR/T's offer .308 bullet drop compensation dials.

Or you can fit TTC knobs to the scope of your liking, including the SS.

As long as the target is approx. 18 inch wide the ranging works great. The 2 prongs at the bottom are the "level" which tells if the gun is off the horizon. the reticle can be seen in the dark by turning on the light. Fun factor about a 10.

I got one of the first SA 4.5-12x56mm scopes when they came out.  Figured it would be a good scope for my M1A SM....

20 rounds letter the bubble level broke free and was bouncing around inside scope. Bad.....

Shipped it pack to SA, they said no problem we'll replace it free (well I'd expect that being under warrenty)

6 plus months later the replacement scope showed up.....

Cool....

took it out of the box, looked it over and found the elevation mechinism froze up and mis-aligned, you couldn't even turn it

even if you wanted too move it....

Bad #2...

Back in the box and back to SA.....

faster return this time, 3-4 mouths....

3rd one...  it never left the box, I traded it off ASAP.

Not sure I'd try another SA scope if they set me a free one....

I'd like to think they solved these production problems....

On higher magnifaction, the reticle patterns from 700mm on disapeared behind bubble level....

In my opinion Reticle was a little busy....
