Help..........Looking for a decent spotter for target shooting.  Owned a Kowa 77; for me just too damn big and heavy, great optics, however.  Here's my short list:
1.  .30 cal holes at 200yds, .40 at 300 yards.  Prone some, and then also offhand
2.  angled lens
3.  down to 33ft and mirage out to 1000yds
4.  Not a monster
5.  Good value, $400-500 bucks, hopefully.  Would go a little more if there's a price point with much better optics, eh?
Heard good things about Nikon/Pentax ED's, Celestron's regal and even the Konus.  anything else I should look at?  What about stands??

Thanks in advance.

You owned one of the very best.  Not sure what you could buy, other than spotters in the 85mm class that would possibly be better.  You're likely going to be disappointed.

I know of nothing under $500 that you would be happy with.

Deals can sometimes be had.

TO get what you want you are going to have to go 65mm and the cheapest rig I know of with good image quality is the Pentax PF65 ED2 with a XW series fixed eyepiece. This will set you back around $800-900 unless you get them for less than average retail.
