What the HECK.  I NEED to replace the shocks on my '96 Cherokee.  Where I live there's not much difference between on and off road,so I'm looking at a monotube gas charged shock.  Got two brands in mind.  Bilstein HD's or KYB Monomax. Any advice? APPRECIATED!!

Both are good, although I would go with the Bilstein's.

I had Bilstein's on my 96' Chevy 4 X 4 for many years. Were great.

Bilsteins are standard on the Toyota Tundra TRD OFFROAD package and they are great. I put the KYB on a 97 RAV 4 They gave me a lot more control and comfort. If you do more offroad go Bilstein if mostly street do the KYB. Both are very good. I think the KYB will carry less of the premium price between the 2.

Was that the KYB Monomax you had on the RAV 4?                                                                  Only time I'm on GOOD road is on the main highway. In fact our county has more dirt roads than any in our state. Luckily, the original owner of it lived right off the main highway and worked in town. It's never been more than 60mi from where she lived.
I'm kinda leaning towards Bilsteins. I found a web site that offers them at less than $20 more than the KYB's.
