I DO SOME BUYING-SELLING-TRADING OF RIFLE SCOPES AND RECENTLY TRADED FOR 2 LEUPOLDS.ONE A VX-I 3-9X40,THE OTHER A VX-3 4.5-14X50.BOTH WITH STANDARD DUPLEX RETICLES.I DECIDED TO CARRY BOTH THESE JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY AND COMPARE IN LOW LIGHT.I REALIZE THIS WAS NOT A LAB TEST AND MY FINDINGS COULD VARY DEPENDING ON A PERSONS AGE,ETC.(I AM 47) AND MY EYES ARE A LITTLE LESS THAN THEY USED TO BE.I GLASSED VARIOUS OBJECTS AT VARIOUS DISTANCES IN VERY LOW LIGHT.TO MY SURPRISE THE VX-I WHICH IS A $200 SCOPE WAS IN ALL RESPECTS AS BRIGHT AND THE CLARITY WAS AS WELL.THER WERE A FEW INSTANCES WHERE I FELT IT OUTPERFORMED THE VX-3 .THIS IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE.I HAVE NO BIAS IN THIS AS I WILL SELL OR TRADE BOTH.BUT THE VX-3 HAS THIS LONG LIST OF FEATURES SUCH AD EXTENDED TWIGHLIGHT LENS,DIAMONDCOAT,ETC.WHEREAS THE VX-1 REALLY DONT LIST MANY FEATURES.I FOUND ALL THIS VERY INTERESTING,ESPECIALLY WHEN A PERSON CAN INVEST ONLY A COUPLE HUNDRED DOLLARS AND GET A PRETTY GOOD SCOPE.

Interesting, and the same findings I had when I compared an older Vari-XII to a newer VX-III ( both 50mm objectives ).

I never really noticed a difference between the II and III series when I used to hunt with Leupold years ago. Because of this I actually liked the II series better because the power range of the scope I was using fit my needs better.

What you have, in effect, done, is offered riflescopes for sale or trade in the Riflescopes section of the forum. The rules specifically forbid this.  I am moving this thread to the appropriate "Optics for sale" section.  Be advised, this also serves as a warning.  In the future, please READ and ABIDE BY the forum rules.  You are required to agree to having read and intent to follow the rules when you sign up as a forum member.
