First off is the Remington SPS tactical. I put on the BALS MK-2 Sniper Bean Bag from SKD and it is awesome. It works great prone off a bipod, or on a bench. I will be getting another one of these for my 300 win mag!
Next up is the 300 win mag. Its getting the most changes to date. I got the old Choate stock for sale and an HS on it now. I had to do a bit of work opening up the barrel channel but it was worth it. I already love it and haven't even shot it yet. I have CDI bottom metal on the way for it now. I am still on the fence as to if I will send it off to have the barrel fluted but may hold off for a while until funds free up. Optics will eventually be a higher power Variable SS or if I can get lucky and find one an XOTIC. Until then its basically bare or gonna be used for torture testing.

Then of course I've already posted this but the Savage 93
From this -
To this (minus the rings my dumbarse ordered 30mm rings instead of 1" rings for a viper scope....DuH)
Last but not least the savage 12 with the Zeiss

How does that short barrel on the Remy work at 400 yds or more? Is there much effect versus longer barrels you have used in that caliber?

Looks like some good mods. When you get the CDI DBM, you might consider sending the rifle down to him to have him do the inletting. He does a great job and of course has lots of experience with his own stuff. Depends on whether you or someone you know has the ability to do it. H-S stocks require removing a fair amount of the aluminum bedding block in that area. I made one change to mine:

once i get it and get it inletteted, I am gonna look at doing it myself first, Jeff from CDI said he thought I could but I could call and get help over the phone or send it to him if need be, I may do the mod you did. It really depends on what i decide to use it for.

I have a bug about this very topic... Longer is not necessarily better, and no it is not my excuse in life. I have taken a shorter barrel than pictured out to 1000 without any issues... Edited by 338LAPUASLAP - January/24/2011 at 21:36 |

Tell me about it. Back in my gigolo days, I used to charge $5000 an inch. Not too many women would pay the 10 grand though. |
