I managed to duck off the range in windless conditions and shot at 200 and 300 m.

The 200 grouping is respectable at 0.527 MOA 0r 1.206 inches

On the 300 yd target I put the first shot on the money, then two shots to the left. I could not figure this out and checked my aim and trigger pull, I noticed that I was closing my hand on the pistol grip, which pushed the POA towards theses errant shots. I then held the rear of the stock instead of just resting it on my fist and concentrated on zero clenching. The next two shots landed on the money. Despite this the grouping still came in at a respectable 0.903 MOA or 2.8 inches
Unfortunately the range at 300 yds was then closed down, so I could not shoot another string of 5 to test the truth in this.

Great shooting, 8.  I am very happy you have worked out all your rifle problems.  That is shooting anyone would be proud of.

Nice shooting Wouter. Were you using a holdover or adjusting the reticle for range?

Thanks guys! I am using the holdover. I am zeroed at 100m. The next reticule down at 25 x zoom puts me dead on at 200 m. The next one down on 20 x zoom puts me dead on at 300 m.

That's great, what scope and reticle? How about the mounts, too?

Thanks,
Doug

The scope is a 8,5-25x50 Leupold with the varmint reticule.

I use Thor mounts, made locally which is an all steel base and ring set. The base has a pillar onto which the rings clamp and are adjustable for windage. I think it is a crib from the old Leupold mounts.

He would just say Wouter is not as good as him and his stock LTR has a better barrel than Wouters custom barrel.  Snipers has over 1000 rounds through it so it is as good as being hand lapped.  Laugh

No spotting scope used. The riflescope at 20X allows me to see the bullet holes.

The rifle is a Rem 700 VSF with a rebarrel. I fitted a 24 inch Truvelo barrel. (Local South African company). Cal 308 Win. Shooting 155 gr match chronoed at 2800ft per sec.
