I could absolutely see the military buying off on this shotgun if its partnership with Mossberg were to expire without renewal. It is very compact compared to the 500s that we use in the Navy onboard ships. It would make for a great close proximity weapon for Security Alert Team/Backup Alert Force (SAT/BAF) use as well as Vessel Boarding Search and Seizure (VBSS) team use.
I like it a lot, but the pricetag that comes with it may turn the military off compared to the cheap M500; unless bulk order discounts were attached.
Oh well, if I were the BIG boss, I'd buy it!

My wife saw that 22 mag. in one of my gun magazines, and we are gonna order her one pretty soon.
If it turns out to be anything like the pt 380 I had, it should be a super sweet little pistol!

Hope your wife has big hands. That grip is huge.
That does look like one sweet pistol though, I would love to have one. |

I think they are having issues with the 22 mag. auto loader. You might want to see if Kel Tec gets it working better first. There is a Kel Tec owners forum to check this out at!

FYI Hornady has some new 22mag critical defense ammo that they say is very close to their 380. But I do not think I would use anything less than a 9mm.
Also on GunsAmerica they had this video on the shotgun. http://www.gunsamerica.com/blog/kel-tec-ksg-pump-bull-pup-tactical-shotgun/ Edited by Sparky - February/04/2011 at 16:22 |

From what I've seen so far this bad boy is worth lookin at. As soon as any of my distributors get any I'll have one in the shop for a closer look. The 22mag has always been over looked by the majority. It is a devistating round for many uses, Personal defense being one. Granted this one isn't the greatest choice for concealed carry but a decent threat stopper non the less.
If it proves to be well built then we may see some smaller variables down the road. Hopefully other manufactorers will offer more choices in the 22mag.

The PMR30 was actually introduced at last years' SHOT show. It isn't a totally new design; it's an improved update of the Grendel P30, and the Grendel's inventor now works for Kel Tec. So, the basic mechanical design is proven. The only negative comments I've heard about it is that Kel Tec failed to meet their projected release date of summer 2010 which angered a bunch of folks, and there were some feeding and function issues reported with some types of ammo, but that's not exactly uncommon with semiauto pistols. From what I've read, as long as you feed it the right ammo, it's supposedly reliable, and Kel Tec supposedly lists what ammo should and shouldn't be used in the gun. The other issue with this gun is that you lose quite a bit of the .22 WMR's performance capability in such a short barrel, but it is still way more potent than .22 LR in a pistol package and that's an acceptable tradeoff to me to have a 30 round capacity .22 mag pistol. It seems like it would make a great small game hunting pistol and just an overall fun gun to shoot.
I think they still have limited availability, but I haven't looked into it lately. Has anyone else heard any other negative comments about the PMR30? |

if keltec made the pistol in 22LR i would buy one, it would be a fun plinking gun. At the price of 22mags tho i would rather shoot my 9mm.

Kel-Tec has a lot of very interesting 'tools'.
A buddy has one of those fold- in- half dealie-o's in 9mm and it is waay cool. If they made it in .45acp it would be ideal. |

I already have three 22WMR handguns. Besides, with California's limitations on magazine capacity for semi-autos, I do not think the Kel-tec handgun makes much sense for me.
I would like to get a 22WMR rifle, so perhaps RMR-30 some day if I can make CA-legal. The shotgun on the other hand looks very interesting. I'll be looking into it when it is available. ILya

Exactly. I am pretty sure I'll look sufficiently intimidating with a bullpup shotgun and some war paint... ILya
