I'm pretty sure now that I'm going to buy the Comp ML3.
I'm a bit confused as to which mount though.
At first I was going to get a A.R.M.S. 22M68, but I've read a few reviews thats it sits too high on a SOCOM.
From what I've read, you should get a low mount.
Does this make sense?
I was thinking of getting the Burris Xtreme Tac low ring.
What I'm wondering is, will the front sight be visible through the scope and if it will be, does it cause a big distraction?

That battery will run for almost 6 years of continuous use, while on the 7 setting.

In an Aimpoint.  In an EoTech, it'll last maybe 100, and in a Surefire light (not LED), you get one hour.

Newton was right, it's relative.

And yes, you want a low mount on the SOCOM.  I mounted an Aimpoint with the standard LaRue and it was way too high.  The lower, the better!  And get QD, in case of emergency, it's nie to be able to use the irons.

Hey Rancid Coolaid....could you recommend a low mount.
Both fixed and QD.  Don't think I have enough money for a QD now,
but want one in the future.

Thanks!

Hell, they last a gazillion years!!
NO !!!  it's a much smaller battery. It is the same battery used in the Leupold Mk 4 Illuminated scopes.   They are dam hard to find in Des Moines but they do last  fairly well.

Well my way of thining is if you take a $500 scope and add a $200 mount rather than buying a $700 scope that includes the mount and has a better battery system it would appear to be a mistake.   As for quick release mounts I like La Rue and GG&G the best.  The GG&G looks like it sits AR height which would be higher than I would want.
LaRue Tactical Comp M2 RAS II Mount QD LT-152 seems a tad high to me also which leaves me thinking Badger Ordnance  low or medium Max 50 if they will fit or low or medium Warne fixed 30mm.

Great stuff, Wes coming through as usual!! Excellent

I've had a couple of different Aimpoints throughout the years (mark III & CompM2) and have never been disappointed. It's a great choice as the newer ones are even better still.  Thunbs Up

I ran across someone telling a way to get the aimpoint to co-witness on a SOCOM or Scout but it involved removing the original forward rail and installing a different mount there but I cant seem to find it I think it was on snipers hide but their search function is so so. If it was me I'd go Comp M4s with the spacer removed even if I had to wait a month.

If memory servers me.... a rep at Aimpoint suggested the same thing when I called about mounting a CompM2 to a Springfield Scout. I don't remember the particulars to accurately post right now but if I have time I'll call 'em early this week and update this thread. Tomorrow morning ends a two week vacation for me. Sad

Well it's not like you can walk into most stores and find them I have found some but it takes some effort and a bit of luck.  We are perfectly happy being 10 yrs behind the times.

Your best bet on a non-QD is a 30mm ring, like Ufriend suggested.

The best bet on a QD would probably be an LT-152, but I can't say for sure.  Chris would have more insite into what mounts he carries that sit lower.  Just be sure what you get is not designed for an AR, it will be way too high on a SOCOM.

So long as the mount is QD, I never felt the need to co-witness.  It would be nice, but it would be a pain to prep the gun to do it - just get the QD and be done.
