Ok I am the proud owner of a remington 700 tactical in 308 and I'm looking for a good clear scope in which to reach out and touch 600 yards. I have been looking at the following
Sight mark 10-40x56 triple duty
Konuspro 8.5-32x52
Hammers 30mm 8-32x56
I'm looking to spend about 600.00 and would appreciate any reviews or suggestions on different scopes.
Thank you.
At the moment I have a centerpoint 6-24 illuminated from Walmart and can hit 300 with no problems

I would consider this one.  Good scope for the money.  http://swfa.com/Vortex-65-20x50-Viper-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P13287.aspx

ST, and SVT both hit the nail on the head. With your budget, those are the options you should be seriously considering.

around here! How about this one? Comes in right at stated budget and enough adjustment to reach well past 600 yds. I have this on my ar 10 .308 and I think it is perfect for this application.

All of the scopes mentioned above are fantastic, but if you really only use the highest magnification I would suggest looking at some of the high end (USO, S&B, SWFA) fixed power optics. You get top of the line glass in a lower price range and a package that you will never have to worry about breaking.

I made the serious mistake of buying a Hammers Rifle Scope made in China.

My first experience has been that after using a weaver K6 and having it work
well and be accurate, using a Bushnell 3-9 with reasonable but not great
results while the scope zeroed in just fine, bought a Hammers 8-32 fancy
scope with supposedly a life time warranty.

The scope was a failure from the get go. It was off target by at least a foot
at 40 yards and would not move to a proper bore sight zero. The windage
adjustment ran out of range before I could get it centered. That is after the
same rifle had properly operated with both the weaver and Bushnell scopes with
weaver mounts. I kept the weaver mounts on the Bushnell just in case I needed
it to be put back on. It is a good thing I did. Otherwise I would have been
out trying to shoot an elk with a rifle that would not zero in for windage
adjustment after using their own mounts instead of my weaver mounts. I will not
bother to try that. If I can get my money back, I will do so. Otherwise I will
consider this a very expensive, and stupid error. I say stick to the scopes
that others have used for years successfully and stay away from the new and
beautifully painted fakes. I learned my lesson. I will not buy any more
optics made in China, period.

I had to give others a heads up. I did fire my 7mm magnum once and the
scope did not fall apart or change its nonzero adjustment. That was a rather
pleasant surprise considering that it ran out of windage range before it would
adjust properly.

Good luck if you made my mistake.
