Hi... I just received an exciting package the mail, my Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 with an EGW HD Remmi 700 Long Action Base and a set of Burris Xtreme Tactical 1" Low rings.  When I attach the rings they can slip forward and backwards!  Both rings are doing the same thing.  This isn't rock solid.  I'm baffled because I see that so many people use this setup and I thought Picatiny rails are universal.  I'm going to contact Burris and EGW tommorow... sigh.  What do you guys think?

Do they slide after you tighten them down?  Seems odd to me.

The xtr rings are kind of different... The mounting nuts for tightening them to the base are they on the left hand side of the rifle?( when you have the rifle shouldered, on the your left). The reason i ask is the recoil lug on the xtr's only face one way. If you look at the bottom of the ring where it attaches to the rail, the bird-beak goes forward towards the muzzle.

Yes I was sure to mount it with the nuts on the left side of the gun with the "birds beak" going forward.  I tried it every other way i could think of as well ;)
