I put this under the Rings and Bases section and got lookers but no comments.  I've got a Marlin model 60, SS, synthetic.  I had a scope put on and the thing will not stay put.  The bases creep back on the rail.  The first time it happened the thing started shooting high and by the time we figured out what was happening the rear base had climbed clear off the rail.  That will raise the point of aim, big time.

I've tightened it while I'm shooting, for example, after each mag full and sooner or later in a range session, off it comes.  I was told that the bolt coming back when the thing is fired creates a hammer effect and the SS is a little slick.  The solution suggested was use some blue lock tight on the rails where the base clamps on.   Does that make any sense, or does anyone have other suggestions?  I guess I could go to epoxy if this doesn't work, but that seem kind of drastic.  I've wondered if there are bases that are longer, providing a larger surface area and therefore more friction.

You could sweat solder it on, like they do the front ramp sight. A trip to a gunsmith might be required. Or take the rifle and scope to one of your gunshops with a resident gunsmitm. He should be able to sort you out.

The local SWH has not got Leupold rimfire rings.  I think the best they have that will fit this thing are Millets.  Will those do it or is that just more junk?

I examined the ones I used and you're right.  There is no contact with the receiver, except right where the tiny sharp edge of the ring mount touches the deepest part of the groove.  No contact on top of the rail or on the upper or lower grooves surface.  No wonder it's crawling off there.  If the Millets won't do it, I'll order the Leupold rings on-line.  Thanks.

Luepold rings installed.  During subsequent 300 rounds, the base torx screws worked loose.   That was at around 100 rounds.  Tightened them up, and that was it.  Problem solved.
