No,NOT like a charity car wash!  A skunk wash for descenting things sprayed.

I was watching a PBS show (only tv I get so........) on skunks last evening and they gave this recipe and directions for use.  They also said ALOT of tomato juice is just a temporary cover up.

WARNING: DO NOT put in a closed container as it will build up pressure!!  Also DO NOT get in eyes.

    1qt  peroxide
    1/4 cup  baking soda
1 tsp  Dawn dish wash detergent

Pour liberally on affected area, scrub it in,and rinse off after 5 mins.

I'll let y'all know how it works later this evening.  Our dog got sprayed (PBS show calls it getting spritzed.  Loco)  the other night.

  You want some?

If it was hunting season I'd let him stink.  Give him big hugs as I head out to hunt for a good cover scent.

Never tried juice let alone paste,Bd.  If it works,GREAT.

I got spritzed by a skunk a few years ago coming over the edge of a ridge... skunk got a 100gr .243 upside the head after I climbed back up the hill... fell about 30 feet when the sucker sprayed me.

  Looks like good stuff.

We've had porkies (although I've never seen one) in the area since 01.  Moved down from the north DNR says.  Don't guess there'd be any logical reason for them to transplant some?  Anyways,I did see some quills (small ones) a friend had the vet take out of two of his dogs.  So they are here.

   Your pet skunk,Mike?!

The old locals around here say that skunk spray in the eyes will improve your vision.  Can you elaborate some?  Bucky

Another "natural cure" they say is to to put your arthritic hand/hands in a yellow jackets nest.

I got skunked once, well actually it was my dog, I just happened to be walking behind her. Got thrown out of my own house.
I've heard canned tomatos work best. Tomato juice just knocks the edge off the assaulting stench.

Well,we just "nuked" him.  Seems to have worked so far.  I'll know more when he dries out.

I've heard of the tomato thing to but never tried it. Usually we just let it wear off.

Maybe I should move this to the "Test and Review" forum.

I have used that exact formula twice on our lab and it works great!  Now about labs being smart dogs, that's a different issue.

GLAD to hear that it works.

Ours is Black Lab/Austrailian Shepard mix.  He's smart but LUVS to root and that gets him in trouble.  It's a wonder he's not gotten snake bit.

I killed 13 deer with that rifle.  All I hunted with for several years.  Got it for my daughters and took it hunting to show them it was a good deer rifle.  I've killed coyotes, squirrels, raccoons, 1 skunk and deer with it...

Dang, like to remember the name of that stuff that the wife got from Feeders Supply for skunk spray. One summer we had the Great Garden Battle with a skunk over the garden. Both our shepherds were sprayed twice each in a 4 day period defending our garden from an invading skunk. The battle ended in a draw. Whatever it was that we used on the dogs, worked well enough to let them in the house. Not saying you didn't get a little whiff of skunk from time to time.
