For my Remington 700 SPS Varmint in 308 looking to put a variable power scope on it that simply has a dot in the center. Maybe thin crosshairs, but that is about it. I know Barska has some.

Not wanting a tactical or AR halographic, just a hunting scope with a dot as the reticle.

Currently have a BSA Panther 6-20x42 on there. Don't need anything with that much magnification.

Thoughts?

That is not a common reticle these days. The only reason ones I know of off the top of my head are high mag scopes like Sightron S2 Big Sky 6-24x42.

I would highly reccomend a Bushnell 3-12x56 XLT scope. its made mostly for hunting. the dot is like 3 or 4 moa so its not great for target shooting.

Vortex made a 6.5-20x50 with a target dot reticle. Good scope i used to have one. If u do a little searching i bet u could find one. I found one on ebay with a quick google search

Thoughts/experience on Mueller optics? I do like this reticle. I know I originally said no crosshairs, but I can certainly live with this.

These are decent, but unexceptional Chinese scopes.

My S&B Zenith has a #9 flash Dot that is excellent, also Zeiss still has in there line a Zero #0 in there reticles but I don't know if they will fit it to many of there present day scopes.

You might also give Dave at SWFA a call he probably has some thing used.

I know this thread is a bit old (I was searching for reports on Mueller scopes) but I'd like to take the opportunity to ask you, are there any exceptional Chinese scopes? The impression I have is "decent" is about as good as they get.

Thanks for your most experienced opinion.

Unexceptional, in this case, meant "hardly any different from most other chinese made scopes".  So far, from what I have seen Hawke and Hi-Lux/Leatherwood have done a good job of making pretty decent scopes in China.  There may be others, but I have not tested them.

Thanks, ILya!

I'm looking for a mil-dot and I've been considering a Hawke Panorama EV 4-12x (because Hawke mil reticles are calibrated at 10x--even the 2-7x) or a 10x Sidewinder.  I had not considered the Hi-Lux/Leatherwood but I'll check it out too. The CMR ("Close Medium Range") is only a 1-4x24 but, lookig at their website, they are promising  a new "LMR" ("Long Medium Range?"). But then again they've been promising a DMR version for a long time too, apparently.
