When I googled it I came up with this http://www.opticstalk.com/chris-how-to-id-a-simmons-presidential_topic5718.html I didn't know you had a museum. That gloss scope does have a bit of class to it's look.

Never used a "Presedential" but the "Whitetail Expedition" is my all time Favorite.  These were not your Wal-Mart blister pack series.

What's your opinion on the reliability of these? Glass wise the one I got looks excellent. I've thought about replacing my Monarch I have on my backup gun with it as this honestly has better glass, and I think I'd enjoy the 4-12 power more than the 3-9 I'm currently using along with having the benefit of the adjustable objective. The only thing I'm wondering about is the reliability. I know it's old, and that's the first thing that makes me wonder about it, and on top of that the Simmons name makes me wonder also. Anyone used this and have a take on it from this aspect?

Scopes are not that complex and the age difference between the Presidential and today makes little difference in regards to reliability.  Don't judge the Presidential on what Simmons put out after they sold the company to investment bankers.

I would have no reservations hunting with a Presidential under any conditions.
