I love my old simmons scope but it is getting old and has broken a cross hair so I need to replace it and I don't know much about new scopes out there and was wondering what people thought of the new simmons aetec master series.

Berickson:

Welcome to the forums.  The Simmons Atec Master series is an ok scope but at around $190.00 dollars you could do much better.  In the same price range is the Nikon Buckmaster, and Burris Fullfield which are are much better scopes in optical performance.  A very slight step down in optics but still in the price range is the Bushnell 3200 Elite, which is a very good solid durable scope.

Those three will provide you with better optics and is a much better buy then the Simmons for around the same amount of money in my opinion.

Happy shooting and once again welcome to the forum.

AC

I have used the old Aetec scopes with good success, but bought them at closeout prices, close to $100 dollars.  I do not have any experience with the new scope under the Meade umbrella.  Howvever, I can say that the Elite 3200 series should be equal or superior to those scopes.  But, you should look for yourself and decide on what prices you can get the scopes for.  I recently mounted a Burris Fullfield II 3x9, using a mini bubble leveler on the rifle and plumb bob to level the reticles and it was annoying to me that the elevation and windage knobs were not close to 90 degrees.  That just bothered me.  I have had other, hight priced scopes do the same, but it should not happen.  Pick what is right for you and be happy with your choice.  Good luck and good hunting.

MY BROTHER WHO HAS HUNTED A LONG TIME AND WILL HUNT WITH NOTHING BUT AN AETEC. HE SAYS THEY ARE THE BEST SCOPE FOR THE BUCK HE BOUGHT HIS LAST ONE FOR 159. HAVE A LOT OF SCOPES THAT I HAVE PICKED UP FOR BETWEEN 150 AND 200 AND BURRIS FULLFIELD IS MY LEAST LIKED. LEUPOLD VX-1 FAVORITE OTHER THAN THERE IS NO ORECISE CLICKING WHEN ADJUSTING SCOPE TO SIGHT IT IN OTHER THAN THAT GREAT SCOPE THAT YOU CAN FIND FOR 150 175 ON THE HATED EBAY
