Fella's;

This is getting to be a real peeve of mine.  It seems that the marketing managers of all the optics manufacturers don't believe that a mil-dot reticle can be put in anything but a matte or camo finished scope.  There is at least one consumer, me, who would like to see this very useful reticle put in scopes with different exterior finishes.  Some of us do own stainless guns & would appreciate the availability of a stainless type scope & a mil-dot reticle.  Please don't mention BDC, I have a delicate stomach.

This was brought home to me once again in the recent past.  I was passing through the firearms section of one of the local BIG STOREs the other day when this little Ruger take-down leapt into my arms.  What could I do?  It adopted me.  It's got the synthetic stock & whatever Ruger calls it's "stainless" finish, so I wanted to get a matching scope.  In mil-dot.  I have a number of this type of scope, am thoroughly familiar with their use, and really don't feel the need to buy another type of reticle at this time.  But a stainless mil-dot scope?  Fuggidaboudit!

I've purchased a matte 3-12X A/O mil-dot here at SWFA & I'm sure it'll work just fine, but I'm not happy with the aesthetics.  A minor point I guess; after all I did spend the money.  But, it's my money, I should be able to get what I want IMHO.

For those who're interested, the game is a ground squirrel, about 1/2 to 2/3rds the size of a p-dog.  The ranges vary from literally between your feet to two hundred yards.  Not that they don't appear at longer ranges, but the by far preferred caliber is the .22 long rifle.  To be honest, the game could care less what the rig your shooting looks like.  To say that they're a bit dumb does the concept of stupidity an injustice.  But, I digress.
