As Im looking for a new set of binocs,I decided to clean up a pair I already have, these are 10x26 steiner preadator pro,and went to wipe off the objectives, which has never been done before, and aparently there was, my best guess ,a silicon grease between the housing an lens edge. This got smeared all over and is a beouch to get off(still getting the last of it now.Anyone run into this?Is ther a trick to getting it off easy or is it one of those dont get it on there in the first place things.I think it would have been hard to avoid considering where it was and would have undoughtly gotten dragged over the lens the first time a lens cloth touched it.Yea I toasted my wifes lens cloth that came with her cannon  CencoredWhistling

Use a camera type lense cleaning solution that is easily obtained in most pharmacies. Don't use household type window cleaners what ever you do. That's probably the easiest and cheapest way to go. Just makes sure it is safe for coated type lenses.
