Is Gov Jindal the toughest politician in America on child molesters?

>>Signed a Chemical Castration Bill, Authorizing the Castration of Sex Offenders in Louisiana

>>1st conviction: the court may sentence the offender to undergo chemical castration.

>>2nd conviction, the court is required to sentence the offender to undergo chemical castration.

>>This bill also provides that a court may instead order a physical castration instead of the chemical castration.

>>Convicted sex offenders who undergo castration must still serve their full sentence, as their treatment will not affect their sentencing.

>>Under the bill, if a convicted sex offender fails to appear for their chemical castration, they will serve an additional sentence of three to five years.

>>But that’s not all...

>>Governor Jindal also supported the passage of SB 143 to prohibit a sex offender from wearing a mask, hood or disguise during holiday events and from distributing candy or other gifts on Halloween to persons under eighteen years of age;

>>AND... SB 517 which provides for the lifetime registration of sex offenders;

>>AND... SB 510 to double the minimum sentence for computer-aided solicitation of a minor;

>>AND... HB 770 to prohibit the use text messaging by sex offenders;

>>AND... SB 514 to increase the minimum sentence for the molestation of a juvenile by five-fold.

>>The obvious lesson here is---if you’re going to molest a child---DON’T DO IT IN LOUISIANA. (which is exactly the intended message)

That awesome, I think they should include rapist in that as well.  I always thought that would be a great way to discourage those sickos/

I think it does include rapists.  The chemical castration bill says "sex offenders" not just child molestors.  Now if only every state would adopt something like this.

Oh ya, the whole article says sex offenders except the title.  It is funny how the mind does that and only see's what it wants at that point.

While it makes since and I support it, I don't think it will survive a Supreme Court challenge. I think it will be found to be cruel and unusuall punishment.
Myself, I think they should take these slim balls and put them in a wooden shack, clamp their cranks in a vice that can't be opened, give them a dull butcher knife, and then set the shack on fire, and tell them it's their choice.Furious

I'm not askin anybody to get too graphic or vulgar but "Chemical Castration" What the hey?
sounds like non-leathal injection. What's the point? Unless I don't understand what it is, it seems foolish. Unless it takes the thing off how's it worth the trouble? Makes me sick when I hear folks more concerned about the rights of trash over what they do to their victims.  Chemical Castration sounds severe, but in my ignorance I am wondering if it is anything to it. And I'm not saying don't do it, it's more than the rest of the country is doing. But the punishment should really NOT just fit the crime, but show a zero tolerance for the crime. Hung

+1  Who cares about the criminals rights.  Severely punish them the first time and they other will get the message not to do it.  They didn't care about the victims rights when they hurt them.  Swift, just, fair, but severe enough to get the point across.

Yes I agree the time shold be 10 times more than the crime. Just like the kid that got the 18 or so lashes for spray painting a car a few years ago.I bet a 100 bill his but isn't in jail today.I bet it made him walk the line.

 I think the appeal of chemical castration to the typical liberal mindset is that it is painless and reversible, in case of the "rehabilitation" of said offender.
 Which are the same reasons I think it is stupid.

 Pruning shears, shoelaces...

Thats the ticket, Beltfeds burning barn and a pair of electric rope sissors. When it gets hot enough he will cut, cauterize and wish he'd never been born.

I'm thining a dull knife would be the choice of tools for castration however a rat placed in an army helment over the area could work also.
