I am getting a new ruger 25-06 any day now and need to scope it.  I mostly deer hunt in north florida but am going to try north carolina next year and just want a good scope with the best possible optics for what I can afford.  I need to buy a silver one to match the ss barrel which limits me even more.I am on a budget for the scope but want to buy something I'll be happy with.  I have considered alot of models and read alot of opinions but am having trouble commiting.  I was looking at the bushnell 4200 but can't quite swing that right now and almost settled for the 3200 but am now real close to buying a sightron sII 3x9x40 based mostly on what I've read on here.  No one in town seems to stock anything I am interested in which makes it tougher.  Is the bushnell elite 4200 worth the extra money over a sightron sII?  Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Either one will work fine for you..the 4200 or the SSII... its only worth the extra $$ if YOU can tell a difference.  Are you in a hurry?  Are you needing the scope because you have a hunt planed this month or next?  If not, take your time and find a way to look through both of them at the same time.

I would take the SSII over the 3200.

I agree, the 4200 and Sightron SII are equivalent to me.  As I have said, I wish SWFA would pick up the Sightron line.  Presently a competitor has the Sightron SII 3x9 42mm in silver for 199.99.  They are relatively compact scopes, so extension bases may be needed with a 25-06, so check the dimension of the inner bell measurement with that of your rifle.  I cannot mention the company, but a web search for big outfitters that advertise in most of the hunting magazines should turn up this company.
