I have a Sightron 2x EER on a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag.  It takes the shock well and I have no complaints.  Not sure its in the same league as a VXII or VXIII tho.

My observatons are purely subjective, inasmuchas they do not involve any mathematical optical analysis, no knowledge of the lens coatings involved, and no claim to any training in optics other than a college physics class. And, they made me do that.

I hunted last fall with a rifle wearing a VX-lll compact scope, 3-9X.  I was successful.  Three shots, three tags filled.  The scope worked perfectly.  However, when putting glass on a new rifle, I happened to look through a Sightron Sll, 3-9X42.  I compared it side by side to the VX-ll, and my hunting recollection using the VX-lll.  To my eye, the Leupolds have a slightly yellowish tinge to the lense.  It's not bad, it just is.   The Sightron is so bright and clear, it almost has a slightly blue quality to the glass.  I prefer the Sll to the VX-lll.  I get a better image of what I'm shooting at.  I mounted it up and have put perhaps 150 rounds of hard kicking magnum ammo through the rifle and the scope has worked perfectly.

I think the question of how what compares to what, is hard to answer.  I would never have believed I would selectively opt for anything over a VX-lll, short of some of the high German glass.  So I recommend that you go to a shop and compare them side by side.  Look at the whole pack, Monarchs, Bushnells, Leupolds, etc, and make up your own mind.  If money is a factor, weave it in.  In my case I was prepared to pay more than twice as much as the Sightron cost me.  So money really wasn't in on it per se.  I say, "per se," because why would is spend an extra $200 or $250 for something I didn't like as well?  Make your selection for your eye and your shooting and scew everyone else's opinion.  You're going to be using it, not someone else.  Never mind the label, or consensus about what's good or not.  And by all means, consider the company's warrently should something not go as planned.  Enjoy your shopping.

Sightron S2 is comparable to Leupold VX-3.

I am not familiar with Sightron's 2x EER scope, so i\I do not know where it fits optics-wise.  I do not think Sightron currently makes that scope.  How old is it?
