How do these two compare?  Has anyone had the opportunity to test them side by side in various conditions?  I have the chance of getting the SII for $199.95, which seems like a pretty good deal.

Also heard these were being "closed out" .............. got any info on that?

I think you mean 3.5-10x50, right?

Sightron S2 3.5-10x50 is indeed discontinued.  Both are good scopes.  If you can get S2 for that price, then it is certainly a better deal. Optically, these are probably comparable. The one major difference is eye relief: Sightron has a fair bit more of it.  I'd go with a Sightron (nor suprise there, probably).

I don't know.  If it is not a popular scope type, maybe they will not replace it with anything.

I really do not see a whole lot that scope can do that a regular 3-9x42 can't do.  They do have a new 3.5-10x44 scope with side focus, however.  There is also a 3-12x50 scope, but that may be getting discontinued as well.
