I have a new Savage 10 Fp w/ a 20" heavy barrel. After that purchase I'm only ready for a scope mount and from reviews I think I'll go with the EGW Picatinny SA (20MOA) mount. The only thing is funds right now won't allow for the SWFA 10x 42 or 12x42 SS which I'm leaning toward. So I'm wanting just to sight it in to see how it shoots mainly to see how it'll group with different ammo. I have new Sightron SI 3-9x40 on a FAL that I thought I could try out on the Savage before I upgrade. My questions are will I have enough adjustment( with 20 MOA mount) with the Sightron to get it in on the paper and at what range should I start with? Also wanting to go with Leupold QR rings later on the SWFA scope set soon and what ring height would give me good clearance( for bolt and barrel)and still allowing low cheek weld? Also do my picks above sound okay considering I wanting to use Big Smileit for some long range target and varmit up to 1000 yds?I'm open to all suggestions as I want to do it right as much as funds will allow. Thanks in advance.
