Zeiss Victory 10x42 FL Binocular Named

2005 Shooting Illustrated Optic of the Year

CHESTER, Va., April 18, 2005 – Zeiss’ revolutionary Victory 10x42 FL binocular has been named 2005 Optic of the Year by the National Rifle Association’s Shooting Illustrated magazine.  The prestigious Golden Bullseye Awards were presented on Friday, April 15, 2005, at the NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Houston, Texas.  This is the third consecutive year that Zeiss has been among the companies recognized for producing the finest products available in the shooting sports.

“We are honored that Shooting Illustrated has chosen a Zeiss product once again as its Optic of the Year,” said Rob Siemers, president of Zeiss Sports Optics North America.  “The NRA publications do an outstanding job of informing their readers about new products and their recognition of Zeiss’ efforts to develop state-of-the-art optics for maximum performance in the field is deeply appreciated.”

The Golden Bullseye Awards are voted on by an eight-member committee consisting of the NRA’s editors, art staff and veteran publications staff, representing more than a century of collective experience in the firearm industry.

Dave Campbell, editor in chief of Shooting Illustrated, had the following to say about the Victory 10x42 FL in the magazine’s March 2005 issue, “Quite simply, it is lighter and brighter than any other 10x binocular I have used.  In the western mountains and prairies that I hunt, the name of the game is to cover ground.  This binocular helps me do that better and more efficiently.   Zeiss called upon its heritage for innovative optical design and married it to cutting-edge ergonomic technology to establish a new benchmark in hunting binoculars with the FL series.”
