Was there a couple years ago. My oldest boy was preparing to go to Afganland, went to see him off, met a few other soldiers (kids) at the barracks cooking out having a few beverages. They just got back from Iraq and were headed back to play in the sand, as they called it. I remember they were very respectful, kept calling me sir, seemed like good kids. I told them to be careful over there and come back alive. We worry about them going over seas to fight for our freedoms and something like this happens at home, far to often lately. I pray for our service men and women daily... can't wait to see what they say caused this tragedy.

Another side to the story... I once accompanied the officer delivering the paperwork to a fallen shipmates parents, only once, respectfully declined to every do that again. Wouldn't wish that job on anyone. Pray the parents and spouses also.

More than likely they will disarm the Army. All wars will be fought with a debate team. Big Grin

The fact is the military will spend more to protect a piece of equipment than they will it's personnel. I worked a facility that did build up and maintenance on a specific weapon system,  you had to park 100 yds away and walk to the facility all the while Marines, that you never saw, had a bead on you. I'd be at the enlisted club after work and have a jar head come up to me and say "dude, I could have killed you like 5 times today ha ha". If the law enforcement faction would just show a presence on the bases besides the front and back gates, it just might make a person think twice about trying to pull a gun and going Taliban on his or her own comrades. The only time I leave my ccw at home is when I go to the base once a week for supplies and now it worries the sh#* out me to do so.
