I found out today that shipping a firearm is a real pain. I live in Ohio and wanted to ship it UPS. To start off with I don't have a FFL but the gentleman who bought the gun sent me a FFL from his dealer. I read the rules on gunbroker and they clearly stated I could ship the gun (a 1957 made 52c heavyweight) to the address of the dealer and must present a FFL to the shipper. UPS said that I must disassemble the gun - Fed- ex said that a gun dealer with a FFL must ship it and the USPS said the same thing. Well since I live on the border of West Virginia(A great pro gun state) I went to their local post office and they shipped it with no questions and was more than happy to have my business. What it amounts to is pure ignorance on these shipping companies. This probably doesn't happen at all of them but the employees should know the rules. I believe that they maybe anti-gun too. Thanks to the people of West virginia-I got it sent!  If they ever outlaw guns - I would hate to be the person that trys to take them in West virginia-He might as well order his own bodybag!

It can be a chore for sure. You can always do a FFL to FFL but geez Louise. Shipping ammo is just as bad...maybe worse. Package has to be ORM-D marked, and most shippers freak at that (don't know the rules). Double PIA.
