I am seeking advise on 8x42 binoculars in the $300 to $500 price range.  I plan to use them for hunting, birdwatching, and nature walks (basically an all around use).  I currently have Sightron 8x42 SIII842RM binoculars that were purchased from SWFA on closeout in 2012. They served me well, but I have a couple of issues.  The eye cups are pop up instead of twist up.  The FOV is limited for an 8x42 binocular. They do have good eye relief, which is needed for my eyeglasses.  I would like to upgrade to a new 8x42 binocular with HD, EX, ED optics and a wider FOV if possible.  Good low light performance would be a plus.  I plan to consider the following bino's mainly because I can go to local stores to handle and test those items:

* Vortex Viper HD
* Nikon Monarch 7
* Zeiss Terra ED Binocular
* Leupold 8x42 Bx3 Mojave HD Pro Guide

I am open to other bino's in addition to those listed above.  And, I will begin to search the sample list.  At my price range, does a wider FOV mean less clarity at the edges?  Are there other suggestions or things to consider as I consider an upgrade to my current bino's (optics quality, ergonomics, etc.)?

Thanks!!!

you can add the Minox BL HD....and the Vanguard Endeavor ED or EDII.....all good choices...if you could test all of them B4 buying...but that is usually not possible....

You may want to look into test driving a demo from Maven.  Their B3 can be had for $450 as a demo, $500 new, and for not much more than $500 you can play with customization of the aesthetics.  It's offered in a 6, 8, or 10x - all with 30mm objectives.  Of the three I'd consider the 6 or 8 as a 10x30 is just too much optical magnification for a little objective lens when you start to throw hunting/low light into the mix and the wider field of view offered by lower powers will be more useful for general woods bumming than super high magnification.
