I have looked everywhere I can think of (and google) but I cannot find a scout/ handgun scope that I think would be ideal. Does anyone make a 1.5x6 power long/intermediate eye relief scope with an illuminated reticle? My hope would be for almost the speed of a red dot sight at low power with the illumination on and some accuracy for long shots at the high magnification setting, with or without the illumination, in a scout type setup.

Dumb idea??

I am not aware of a scope that would fit you requirements.

The closest would be a Burris 2-7x26 pistol scope, but it does not have an illuminated reticle.

none as koshkin points out--but a thought-- use of high powers in a forward positon work well ( work ok) on a handgun because the shooter is able to "manipulate" the gun to correct for errors in the sighting plane between the eye and line of sight of the bore/scope. This doesn't exist in the scope set up as the sight alignment becomes very critical as higher (above 4x) on a scout set up. (Ive tried), because the shooter must move the head and not the gun.

If your willing to move the optic back a bit, several outstanding set ups exist, with the requirements your looking for and very popular with 3 gun shooters. all have 1x both eyes open and 100' FOV plus illumination. Leo, 1.5x5mr, my favorite, 1x4nightforce fc-2 reticle and the meopta (haven't used the later) but the price range puts it in the very popular bunch by a lot of shooters.
