Here's a pic of two scopes I'd like a bit of info on please, if available.

The one mounted onto the AR is supposed to be a Canadian sniper scope. It's a 2x, built solid and with a young man's eyes it's a darn good performer.

The loose scope is a HY-Score 4X made in Japan. Don't remember how I aquired it, and even though it's old it's still clear and strong.

Thanks,

Interesting note, just for grins and kicks I mounted the Hy-Score onto my LMT and zeroed at 25 yards. It was originally shooting low and to the left but the crosshairs were in the middle of the glass. After proper adjustment the crosshairs now reside low and to the left. Never seen this before no matter how much adjustment a scope required, is it an artifact of older scopes? Other than that it did ok on the 223 platform even though, lookwise, it doesn't belong.

Can't wait to receieve, mount and shoot the CMR, probably this weekend if the stars properly align.

The first scopes with internal adjustments all had reticles that visually moved as they were adjusted. My WW2 Russian sniper scope is that way. Redfield bases with windage adjustment helped to keep windage centered so that only elevation was effected.

Once scope makers figured out how to maintain center no matter how the scope was adjusted, the modern scopes were born.

Looking through the Hy-Score catalog is interesting. On page 8 they show the East German Zeiss 8x30 binoculars for $95. In July of 1966 I was in the Air Force and $95 was roughly three weeks pay for me. In 1985 (approximately) I bought essentially the same Zeiss binoculars in England for $46 American. Later I bought the Carl Zeiss 8x32 roof prism model for about $75. I still have both and they are excellent.
