Which scopes in the $300 to $600 range are best for shooting to the same point of aim throughout the power range? If a variable power scope does not shoot to the same POA. or very close to it at high power and low power and all powers in the middle then I would rather use a fixed power scope. I believe leupolds are well known not to shift POI. with power change. How are the bushnell 4200s and 6500s and Zeiss conquests and japan monarchs at holding the same POI. at different powers?

Generally, I believe all the ones you listed have good reputations. Somebody will always show up to offer his experience with the exception, though.

all second focal plane scopes will change poi with change in magnification. How much depends on the span of the variables range and the power range. This is because the point of aim changes with the power setting, sometimes it is easier to see it in this manner, try it on a 500 yd target. A ballistic curve of the trajectory meets the optical path, two times -- on its path up and on the way down, most rifles when sighted in at something like 200 yds will have the bullets still rising in the arc, which shows little effect. Its on the way down that all the problems start. You will need a variable in the first focal plane and the SS 3x9 or a Falcon menace are about in this price range.

The subtensions shrink or grow but the POI should not change with magnification. My Vortex Diamondback 3-9x40 shows no POI shift. Other than the reticle is thick and shooting on 3x is tricky.
