I was lucky enough recently to recieve a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x40 AO riflescope as a birthday gift, which I think will fit nicely on my Ruger 10/22 carbine. I was originally leaning towards a set of Warne rings as I have on most of my other rifles, but then I ran across the DNZ mounts and read up a bit on them here. Usage will be primarly recreational target shooting.

With that in mind, I have a couple of questions.

1 - Will low rings work with this setup (Warne or DNZ) or do I need to bump up a size to medium?
2 - Any preference either way on mounts/rings for this setup? Costs are fairly close for both, so the deciding factor is based more on fit & function.

Thanks in advance.

It depends on which of the  Warne rings you refer to because the rimfire rings are not nearly as strong as their typical ring that attaches with two screws on top and two on bottom.  Im not wild about the DNZ mount also mainly because it only uses one screw on each side of the ring and I believe that using two screws on each side gives equal pressure over a larger area and is a better choice.  Probably the coolest set of Ruger ring and base combo is La Rue but they cost more than the rifle.  I would suggest you consider the Talley lightweight ringmount which does not use a seperate base. To be sure of the fit I would call SWFA and ask them at the time of ordering that way you can also check to be sure the item is in stock.

That's spot on for the feedback I was looking for, and the Talley's look to be just the ticket. I'll give SWFA a call tomorrow to confirm the proper size before ordering.

Take care and thanks again for the info.
