Looking for a new scope to go on my 257 wby. 4-14 or 4-16. Looking at Weaver GS, Nikon Monarch, Vortex Viper and Burris Signature Select. Any input on any of these, or is there something else out there better in this price range. Thanks.

Of the ones you mentioned, I like the Vortex the best. You may also check out the Sightron Big Sky, Meopta Meopro, and Minox ZA 5 scopes. Good luck.

500-600. It's going on my beanfield rifle. Low light was my #1 factor but my eyes are shot. Glasses would cure that. These are the scopes I can walk in and buy in my area gun shop. Would like to stick to a 1 inch tube though. I used to use this gun 3 weeks a year. I robbed the scope off it 3 years ago and mounted it on a 7 stw and it's been put up since. Time to re-scope it.

Of the ones you listed Burris signature select would be my first choice.

 + 1 for Zeiss.

Burris and Vortex make nice scopes as well.

As of now i'm leaning heavily toward the Burris. I just put a new 3x9 zeiss conquest on a new .308. i can't see where it is any better scope than my elite 4200. Like I said my 56 year old eyes are a long way from being spot on. I got a heck of a deal on the zeiss and bought it. I hunt log roads 80 percent of the time in our club except three weeks a year i go out of state and hunt power lines and pipelines. The log road stand is like shooting in a tunnel.

BHR that's not a fair comparrison. If you can afford the elite series you might want to consider Swaro Z3 which has better glass than anything mentioned & has a much better resale value!
