Red dot woudl be my suggestion.  I have one on my SP22 for squirrel and the way they move the dot helps alot  I would suggest this

For the high end and if you want to make sure you like the red dot firstgo with a tasco for around 35.99 before investing in a good red dot. like this.

Not knowing your budget you might look at the Burris 2X7X32. I have had a great time with mine. Yes its slightly big for a 22, but it will do you a good job on any pistol you choose. I have bought lessor scopes and always regretted it. This one has been great and never needed to be rezeroed. Its been on a 357 for over 5yrs and I can't think of any scope I'd rather have. Good luck and Welcome to the OT.

Thanks Sgt. D Excellent  i've been looking hard at burris scopes. Is there a particular reticle that you would recommend. I am leaning toward the electro-dot or the ballistic plex.

Mine has the standard plex. I also think the Ballistic plex would come in real handy. Especially for your 22. I have my 357 zeroed at 100yds and it serves me well. That is another reason I like the variable. I can pull in a real good picture for longer shots. Look forward to hearing what you get.

Well  i found the electro dot at Cabela's  on sale for $299.00. That's $100.00  off the regular price just couldn't pass it up. Hope i made a decent choice over the  b-plex. Thanks for the input guys.

I have three Leupold 2.5 x 8 Handgun scopes on various handguns and a couple of Bushness Trophy's. I looked at the Burris when I upgraded to the Leupold's and the Leupold was clearer and brighter. More $$$ tho.  They work well out to 500m tho on the steel...

Glad to hear you got one. I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. I looked at Leupold also, but at the time Burris was offering the largest objective and I did save some money. No doubt the leupolds are great scopes, but I don't think I'd trade for the difference. I do use Leupold on my go to rifle and haven't seen anything I'd switch to in the same price range. What I may change to will probably be double or triple in cost.
