New guy and glad to be here. I've installed a 30mm tube Vortex on a Remington 700 SPS .204 with a low Dead Nutz Game Reaper mount. The object tube is VERY close to the barrelo and I hope it's not TOO close. You can get a piece of notebook paper between the scope and barrel. Some brands of playing cards will also slide in. Will any barrel flex/movement hit the scope and move it out of line? I love how close the scope centerline is to the barrel center;line, but I'm new to scoped rifles and hope I didn't install it too low.

I've got a problem with the bolt handle being only about .25" from the scope tube when the action is opened. Are there aftermarket handles? Is it gunsmith stuff to ibstall an aftermarket handle? It will be a PAIN to open the bolt while wearing gloves.

Any suggestions. Change scope hight and solve both issues? Install a new bolt handle cause the scope height is fine?

Thanks!
SW

A Remington bolt handle is part of the bolt.  So it is not really an easily replaceable part.  You might could  have a smith build a custom bolt handle that is bent different and is longer.  And weld it onto the bolt.  Not an easy or cheap process.  But that may not work either as it has to fit down into the stock when the bolt is locked closed.  That is really an issue with remingtons IMO.  They bolt lift is just to long.

I would probably get a higher mount.

I'd go up the next height too.
