Hi, I am seeking advice as to what type of scope to mount on my .22 Browning Buckmark Contour. I will primarily be using it for both indoor and outdoor target shooting. The Buckmark has a 5” barrel and overall is 9.5” long. My budget is $200. I’ve read and have been advised that a 2X optical scope is good for my application. I’ve also read that a red-dot is good for .22s. My question lies mainly in that I’ve not found a pistol or rimfire optical scope that is around 7” long that will not be too long for my pistol. Most red-dots, if not all, seem like they will fit without any difficulty. Can someone please steer me in the right direction? Right now I’m leaning towards a Nikon VSD, a Sightron 1x33 and an UltraDot 4 dot or MatchDot. Thanks in advance for your help. |

I also like a red dot on a .22, I don't like batteries but on "fun gun" like this a red dot just looks and works right. |

The problem I have had with cheaper red dots is inability to take recoil. Accordingly, I use an Aimpoint on my 44mag SBH. (I use 2x scopes on most of my Contenders.) With a 22 you should not have that problem. However, the old Tasco PDP2 is not only inexpensive , but previously held up well on my 357 mag. I now have it on a 22 Savage Striker and it works fine.

Mike; I have a suppressed Buckmark that I put the tiny Burris FastFire optical sight on and I'm very happy. It weighs less than 1/2 ounce and doesn't take up the whole slide. Deadly accurate!!! Just my $.02. Its also less than $200 from various wholesalers. Good shooting!!!!

I have a Burris FastFire. How did you mount it? I want to put mine where the rear sight sits. Any pics would be cool. I have a Tactical Solutions Threaded barrel so I plan on getting a can as well.

Back to the question. Most of the people I know use a C-more red dot. However, I see more people going with somthing like the fastfire. Just about every optics company has one in there line up.
