Looking at getting a new scope for my .17HMR and need some suggestions.  I am looking at the $200-250 price range.  Want something good with variable power...  Thinking of something like the Nikon's BDC scopes...  Any suggestions...

I have a Burris FFII on my 17.  It is great for it.  The ballistic plex works great out to 300 yards.

What power range do you want?

I like the 4.5-14 Burris FF II on my.17 The dots work a lot better than the 0s for me. Plus the CS of Burris gives you correction charts for many standard calibers. It is not just trial and error to figure it out.

If you have a PD town, I could find a way to bring mine up to show you how it works.

Been thinking about them but the 4.5-14 is a little out of the price range from the ones I found...

On my K77/17 VMBBZ I mounted a Nikon Buckmaster 6x18 Side Focus I love it, but that would be over your budget amount..

Thanks for the great ideas...  I just picked up my new 93R17BTVSS yesterday.  I went to put an older scope on it with the rings that were on it and with the varmit barrel I can not get it on...  What rings do you suggest to get...  I am looking at getting a new scope soon for it that will be somewhere from a 40 - 44 objective.

I would like to be able to find something like medic52's Buckmaster.  Or something similar with side focus...

Just FYI... ANY BDC reticle will require "getting used to", unless you have one specifically calibrated for your ammo... in which case you can't use any other ammo without difficulty.  BDC's are NOT magic.  They have great utility when the proper time is spent becoming familiar with them.  TAKE GOOD NOTES and KEEP THEM.
