I was reading some of the post about scope selection, but i have to ask. I want a couple of new rifle scopes for my father`s rifle savage 99 in 300 savage and for my own rifle savage 110 in 270 Win, I`m thinking in some 3-9 x 40, maybe a Nikon Prostaff, a fixed Weaver 6x38, What about simmons, bushnell and tasco? We hunt deer at maximum 300 yds. Any advice up to $150.00?

Sightron SI are the only decent 3-9's I know about under $150. I would not go with any of the scopes you mentioned.

+1 on the sightron, but the weaver is a fine scope - good glass for the money.

What's wrong with weaver scopes?
I just shot a few rounds every year, Can they take care of the situation?

Weaver is now owned by Meade. Meade is a very crappy company that does most of its buisness in China.

Meade owns simmons and also redfield. Redfields quality has dropped signifivcantly since this partnership

and well respected users of the new weaver have noticed similar characteristics with the new weaver scopes and very poor service from the new customer service. Sightron is a much better company that makes there scopes in Japan, best bang for the buck in this price range of around 100 dollars.

Sightron S1 3-9x40 is a very decent scope for the money.  However, a lot can be said about the simplicity and reliability of a fixed magnification scope, especially in lower price ranges.

Here are a couple of good scenarios:  Weaver K4 for the Savage 99 and Weaver K6 for the Savage 110.

Another good option right at $150 is Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35.  It is a pretty compact scope that would be right at home on either one of these rifles.
