. I need a new scope for a 6.5/06. I am not much of a sit still kinda guy, and not into taking long range shots, but I have been thinking about going up in power to aid in some longer range target use also.

I have never hunted with anything that can go past 7x but have been considering a 3-9x or 4-12x scope.

I don't get overly hung up on clearity, to a point. I like ruggedness and eye relief. I am generally a Leupold slut, and I know they take a beating, but I have toyed with trying something different. I just know that the Leupolds take the abuse, but I must say I was pretty impressed with a Conquest (3-9x40 version), and believe it or not, I was actually pretty impressed with a BROWNING 3-9x40 I checked out also. Of course I have no idea how they will hang in there.

The Conquest would be a very safe choice.  It has everything your want.  The new Browning scopes are made by Bushnell and are in between the 3200 and 4200 as far as quality.  Do a search on here for Browning Scopes and you will find more info.

I would also consider the Weaver Grand Slam if you want to save a little cash.  They are very bright and rugged scopes with plenty of eye relief.
