I am looking for a spotting scope less than $275.  The main things I will be using this scope for is looking for bullet holes in targets out to 300yds, as well as looking for woodchucks in higher grass.  Possible secondary uses pre season deer scouting from a distance.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would really think about any of the barska line. ive got a 60.00$ barska on my 110 and have taken a hog and plenty of varmit with ease. the brand works great for me and am sure you would like the spotter for the price.

Just got a  Barska 20X60X60mm and I picked up some deer on the mountains about 1/2 mile away, could see they were deer grazing but couldn't really make out the sex. Big Five had them on sale but you can get them here for the about the same price. Great Spotting scope. Hope it helps, did for me.

Maybe I'm just too picky but, to not be able to determine the sex of a deer that is 1/2 mile away using a spotting scope that zooms to 60 power would be terrible performance in my book.  At that range I expect to be able to pick out every possible detail, not just see that there are deer on the hill.

Barska has never had (to my knowledge anyway) a reputation for quality optics.  If money is the main concern, you should do yourself a favor and buy an inexpensive, yet still high quality scope from a maker like Bushnell. Their spacemaster series is pretty good as well as their trophy and Discoverer lines.  In fact the Discoverer is one of the very best scopes made for around $200. It easily matches the optical performance of much more expensive scopes.  Its only drawbacks are it is heavy and is not waterproof. If you need light weight and waterproofing, then the aforementioned Trophy is a definate "best buy" at around $180.

The Leupold WindRiver spotting scopes can be found in your <$275 price range and would also be a far cry better than the Barskas. Yes, the Barska is "cheaper," but you won't get anything good or useful for their cost and you will have to almost immediately replace it so really, they are more expensive.
