is it possible to put a scope on a rifle and take it off if needed and place it back in the same spot and it still be dialed in or do i have to redial it in each time.  i am shooting a remington 700 bdl 30.06.  i am sending the gun off to be dipped is why i am asking.  i currently have a swift scope on it with a 50mm objective.

It all depends on the mounts, rather then the scope. Quick detach mounts will permit you to remove the scope and replace it, leaving you close to zero. If you remove the scope base from the rifle, it is unlikely that you will be able to replace it exactly in the same manner. One thou of an inch movement moves your point of impact 1 inch at 100yds.
So the short answer is no, you cannot remove a scope and replace it without re-zeroing the scope.
Chances are if you replace it in the exact position you removed it, you will be still on the paper, but not good enough for hunting/shooting.
Anyway, half the fun is to shoot the scope in again!
