I just put a new Remington ltr 308 on layawy. I will be punching paper from 300yds up to 1000yds range. I know this gun is probably not capable of this but I have the place to shoot. I will also use this rifle for deer hunting. Which scope would you choose for these purposes. I am new to long range shooting and am thinking about a mark 4 but do not know yet. I would like to keep the price between $1000-$1500. Also which Harris bipod and rings and bases. Thanks for the help.

I would go with a mk4 4.5x14, but then I'm a leo nut, 50 TMR, also check out the burris XTR tactical rings, hell of a buy, I really like the width (also AL and light). Bases, any picatinny, and a 9'' harris, with click legs, and pod-lock

I'm going to suggest a 4.5x14x44 conquest or 6.5x20x50 conquest. Both have side focus and good tracking.
