I have a Bushnell Elite I think its a 1.75-4 x 32.  Why is it that I can look at an object lets say at 75 yds at lowest power and it looks twice as far away as the naked eye sees it?  Its not until I turn it up to high power till it looks any closer but its no where near 4 times closer.  I've even played with the focus ring and still doesn't help.  This same thing is true with a couple other lower power scopes I have.

Try looking through it with your other eye.  I know it sounds strange but see if it does the same thing with both eyes.

I tried looking with my other eye on three scopes and it didn't make a difference, the Bushnell Elite 1.5-4, Bushnell Trophy 1.75-5, and Burris Fullfield 2-7.  Everyone of them under 3 power make the target look farther away than the naked eye. Why is this?
