hello, i bought a bushnell 4200 scope and a set of warne base and ring, i think i mount it right on the winchester rifle. but when i look throught the scope i could see the whole front sight and part of the barrel, that doesn't seem normal right? did i reversed the ring? the ring came as a set and the thicker one says rear and thinner one says front. did i do something wrong? thanks for your help.

I need more information. What model is your rifle? What magnification is the bushnell scope? Does it look like the scope is mounted going down hill towards the muzzle?

I agree, more information is needed, but some questions, can still be answered.  Since I use Warne mounts and rings on most of my rifles, but have never owned, or for that matter handled many Winchester rifles, I still think this equation can be solved.  First, the rings, have nothing to do with the cant of the scope.  They are the same height, if they came out of the same package.  Next, go back and make sure what you purchased is proper for your gun.  In all likelihood, either you have switched the forward and back mount or bought the wrong size product.  Now, all of this is assuming you have a relatively new rifle, that is built to close tolerances.  Also, the only problem I have with suggestiong you switched bases, is that for most other rifles I have mounted, screw depths are different, but as I said, I am not familiar with Winchester products.  Let me know, if switching the bases works.

thanks for the info. it is a model 70 westerner in 3006 cal, not a new rifle. i had a high power nikon scope,4.5-12x, on it before but i don't need all those power so i switch to the 4200 2.5-10x. i had leupold high righs on them and now the warne. the warne base has specific front and rear, which i think i had it mount right cause the front and rear of the receiver is kind of have different curve, the rear is flatter. i will try to get it to the range see if it give any trouble, then i might switch back to the leupold.

saml, you are seeing the front sight and barrel on 2.5x with the Bushnell? This is what I see with all of mine due to the low power/wide field of view you now have over the Nikon. If you had reversed the bases, you never would have been able to sight in your rifle ( receiver ring and bridge height are different on a model 70). I am assuming that you are mounting the scope lower than previously with the Leupold ring/base set-up. You will probably wll be able to see the front sight up to at least 4X with the new set-up.
