I have settled on a Nikon Monarch 3X9-40 (Gloss)  that will be installed on a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe (Gloss).  Could someone please tell me, or give me a link to the exact scope rings and base that I need for this setup?  I know nothing about mounting scopes and will have it professionally done.  Thanks much

royy2,

If your rifle is a RH/LA here are some rings and bases that will work with that rifle and scope.

Leupold bases:

1" Low rings:

1" Medium rings:

40mm riflescope will almost always have enough clearance with LOW

rings in a given style, though Medium rings will give slightly more clearance,

particularly when  using a barrel with a thicker shank portion or a heavier contour.

Burris bases:

1" Low rings:

1"Medium rings:

Excellent, exactly what I was looking for.  What is the difference between the 1 piece and 2 piece base?  Is one better than the other?  Is it better to have the low rings instead of the higher medium rings?  Are one easier to install than the other?  Thanks much for the help.

1pc and 2 pc base is really a preference. 2pc base allow maximum accessibility to the breech area of your rifle, and some people think 1pc is better because it helps get the rings aligned better. As far as height, you will want your scope to sit as low as possible on your rifle without touching. Dependening on what type of barrel you have... If it is a tapered barrel,  I would recommend the low. Without seeing your set up, it's really hard to say.

The base above is a Std dovetail base. The forward part of the base accepts

a dove tail ring, locking it solidly into position. The rear ring is secured

by a windage adjustment screw....

The Burris base is the same as the Leupold STD base, but on the Trumont Universal

1pc and 2PC bases it has a "Recoil Stop Screw" which makes it as strong as the DD bases

without sacrificing the windage adjustments.
