Still have quite the dilemma I'm working on in regards to the optics for this rifle, so thought I might move on to the next important part that's hopefully not as involved.  Gun is a Savage 12BVSS in Win .243.  Will be primarily benchrest with a couple of jaunts to the Dakota's each year for varminting.  Will commonly sit on a bench rest at the club and on a Burris pod in the field.

I'll likely purchase a scope in the $350 range with variable magnification from somewhere's between 5x and 15x in a 40mm size aperture and 1" tube mounting diameter.

So what should I be considering for the mount and rings?  Obviously Leopold, Burris and the like are good choices, but my question more centers on the mount style.  Standard mount - Weaver mount - one piece - two piece - etc.  I do like the idea of being able to adjust the mount separate from the scope so that I won't need to change the scope zero considerably.

I gotta' imagine there are numerous folks out here with this rifle that could comment on their choices and why.  What might you folks suggest would fit my bill for both mount and rings?

Thanks much!

If you don't need anything fancy which sounds like you don't. The trusty standard style would be the way to go. Has the windage adjustment in the base that you like.

Have you seen the new Nikon 5.5-16.5x44 Monarch? Looks to be close for what you are looking at.
