Ok, so bought a new LRPV, 204. Purchased a two piece weaver base, and a one piece weaver base for it. Bought a Mueller 8-32 scope to throw on it, with Burris Signature Zee rings. Now, for the problem...
Im the kind of guy that usually buys rifles with integrated rails or optics mounts, I dont ever boresight, as most everything has always been pretty darn close. However, after mounting this scope, it looked like it was not straight, canted just a bit to the right with respect to the barrel. Took it to the range, and sure enough, fired well left, but was able get it POA and POI to line up at 50 first, then 100.
After leaving range, not wanting to have it that far off, I tried shimming it with the adjustments included in the rings. With max offsets in front and back, I could get it to look like it lined up, but to me I shouldnt have to do that. Tried the two piece base with no shim, and again, looks canted.
So this tells me, either rings are not right, or tap holes in rifle are misaligned. So I turn the bottom ring halves 180 and tighten from the other side...same problem.
So...bad tap holes, bad rings...or bad job on my part? I have never had to adjust something this much before, and want to get it right. Thanks,

Im sorry to hear you are having problems and this particular one I suspect will have to be looked at by a good gunsmith to find out what is going on. I doubt we will be able to trouble shoot this over the internet. If you want to try to go with a different set of rings to see if you can correct the issue try some TPS rings.

It could really be anything: misaligned holes in the receiver, bases, rings or even the scope.

I purchased some different rings, hopefully the snow wont slow delivery too much.... Thanks for moving the post to the right spot and the assistance. Im more concerned now that perhaps its a scope issue, but the other rings I got I can throw on a pic rail on another rifle and see how it comes out.
Thanks,
