OK here is the thing. I know that I want the Burris Signature Select  6-24X-44mm some day. But that is too much money right now. I need a scope that is good but is under $200.00.

I have a
Savage 111 30. 6 . I have been looking at the Nikon Pro Staff 3-9x40. Is there any thing else you would recommend?

I have on my gun right now a Bushnell
Banner Dawn to Dusk 4-24x50mm. It's not working very well.

The Vortex on sale right now is a hard one to pass up and you will have an extra hundo saved up for the Burris you want.
Its on backorder and takes a couple months to ship but you already have a scope that will hold up til then......Beware though you may get the Vortex and decide you don't need the Burris after all.

In my opinion, 6-24x is designed to be used for varminting and target shooting, not for big game rifles.

I would go for a 3-9x40 or something similar.

I recently compared a few scopes that retail under $200:

I just suggested it because the Burris he wanted was that power.

Take a look at the Burris FFII. Mine has been a great scope.

I would check out the Nikon Team Primos. I believe this is the best scope for the buck right now.

Yes, IF you can live with the BDC reticle. I like the BDC, but not sure it would be ideal in low light/brush.

I totally agree that one would be hard pressed to find a better buy in scopes now though.

I'd check out the Burris Fullfield II or Vortex Diamondback.
